These sturdy tankards are glazed in the vibrant Desert Red - with rich black glaze highlighted with reds and golds. They stand 5" high by 3.5" wide and hold 16 ozs.
All of our functional pottery is microwave, oven and dishwasher safe. All glazes are lead free and safe for food. Do not place them on direct heat and avoid extreme temperature changes (start in a cold oven). Pottery should never be placed under a broiler, over direct flame or on the stovetop. Let pottery preheat with the oven. You can take the chill off by filling with hot tap water before putting in a preheated oven or adding very hot liquids or food. If taking pottery directly from the refrigerator let it warm up a little before placing in a hot oven or heating in the microwave. Setting a hot dish on cold tile or countertop is another source of thermal shock. Use a potholder, cork or wooden trivet. Pottery is dishwasher safe and many find it safer washing by machine than by slippery hands. However for longest life, many potters recommend hand washing to avoid chipping.
Several years ago I had purchased this tankard in a different color and we loved them so much I decided to purchase them again so we would stop fighting over who got to use them when we had company. The color we had was no longer available so we ordered this one even though it wouldn't match. We like this one even more as the handles are just a tad different in that they are more rounded and don't hold the heat as the flatter handles on the previous cups. That means we can take them right out of the microwave without using a potholder, yet the liquid in the mug itself is piping hot. Great improvement. The mugs are sturdy and can be microwaved and put in the dishwasher. These are our favorite mugs.
