Welcome Our New Artist - Meghan Bernard Pottery!

Published by Jim Biedebach on 1st Aug 2020

Meghan's studio is in Hendersonville, North Carolina. She is originally from Michigan and received a BFA in Fine Art from Michigan State University in 2002. After college, she spent 2 years in Savannah Georgia as her husband finished off his masters program at SCAD. Meghan started selling her pottery there. Driving back and forth, Meghan and her husband both fell in love with Western North Carolina and discovered its wonderful craft community. Shortly after their permanent move in 2004, she was accepted into the Southern Highlands Craft Guild.

Over the years Meghan has has traveled to art festivals all along the east coast. Her art show tent is happily semi-retired and she has has focused primarily on gallery sales as it is more fun to be at home with her family and in her studio full time. Meghan is inspired daily by the nature surrounding her backyard studio. From the House Wrens that move in every spring, to the dragonflies that visit her garden, she am forever looking to nature for her next design idea.

Artist Statement

I love making the objects that people use during their daily rituals. The favorite coffee cup that starts the day, the serving bowl that completes a family gathering, the teapot that brings drama and humor to a collection. Pottery is meant to be used and touched for both the most humble activity as well as the most important. Each piece is from my hand to yours, as a tactile reminder to appreciate the moment and those you share it with.
